The second-hand marketplace Members Share Displeasure Over Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
