Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children together, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an better service.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a decider.

He rescued four early break points in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
